I cannot believe you have irises in flower, lucky you. Mine just consist of small slug bitten leaves at the moment.

Dawn, two weeks ago there was hardly a bud to be seen, One week of sunshine and 2 days of torrential rain and they are all bursting into bloom, but the stems are weak, having been "forced", so today I have been staking the flower stalks.

Beautiful colours on this one.

It is an unusual colour. Originally bought this variety , but trod on it, then the slugs finished off the squashed flesh. Simbad kindly had some and gave me a rhizome which I put in a foot-free place. So pleased, so generous of her.

I know slugs hate gravel could nt you pour some gravel around them. Yes Simbad is a lovely lady .

Thank your 3pbit, I do that for newly planted Iris, because I only ever buy one of each variety. Gravel on its own is not much of a deterrent. Sand can be better, but it does not last long. Ps. the rhizome I bought originally was a miserable little specimen.

What a shame about your rhozome.

Simbad, a couple of weeks ago, there were only buds on the Dwarfs, now they are coming thick and fast. I would not have believed how quickly they are developing this year.

Same here they seem to appear overnight !, mind you I moved my clump of this last year to the top of the garden the ones at the bottom get very badly damaged by slugs not at the top weirdly.

Damper at the bottom of the garden? More vegetation?
