Green Roses

Green Roses

What's greener than my moldy basketball shoes? How about these roses? These will get a special place in my garden, not just because I'm Irish.

Hi Amy, aren't they neat?! We've been having sunny Spring-like weather the past few days, so I have them outside on my patio in the warm sun and bring them inside at night. I have two. The warm weather is going to continue this week and if the snow is melted by Thursday, I plan to plant them in the border. The ground isn't frozen and is workable. I would like them to go to sleep for a month or two until spring really gets here. Do you think this plan will work? They were grown in a green house.

Yes, I'm Irish. My grandparents moved here from Donegal, Ireland during the potato famine. I make sure to grow my spuds every year! :)

I'm not sure if you mean you have your plants outside or your moldy feet Paul Lol ... yes I think your plan will work fingers crossed , Snap it would appear my family crossed to England in the potato famine from Co.Mayo in Ireland I've spent a couple of holidays in Ireland but didn't know the history until afterwards If we go again I shall be looking for the name in Churchyards ... :o)

LOL, my feet aren't moldy, but try leaving your sweaty basketball shoes in a closed locker for two weeks and see what you find - a biological hazard :O.

So you think my plan will work!? Yippidee Do Da! Now that I have your stamp of approval, I shall move ahead. Green roses shall bloom in my garden after all!

My name is very common in Ireland. After visiting all my friends in England, I crossed over to Dublin from Holy Head. They make a mean Shepard's Pie in Dublin like nobody's business, yum! Make sure you get one. Donegal is northwest, about a 6 hour bus ride.

Honey Fungus in your locker Paul ?? we are keen to go back to Ireland so will remember to look out for the Shepherds pie ,the last time we were there we stopped for breakfast bacon, egg etc. there was something strange on the plate called Irish traditional white pudding its cut into slices and fried it was delicious I found a shop here where its sold and always have some in my fridge , do you have it over there ? we've had holidays in Galway also the Ring of Kerry each time renting a farm cottage ,the Irish people are wonderful.. ..

We don't have Irish pudding here, I'm sure I can get it in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Greenpoint in where many of the Irish settled. My family owns a huge hotel in Donegal (They Abbey). It's the only hotel with a huge American Flag in front. Irish pudding was a standard feature on the menu. It is delicious. That sounds like a wonderful trip at the farm cottage.

Well if we ever get to Donegal we will visit The Abbey and order a Guinness with a shamrock pattern in the froth... Each time on arriving at the cottages we found a tray laid out with a loaf of home made bread and cakes so kind of them ,it was like England 100 years ago when it was a slower pace of life and much nicer .. Hubby kissed the Blarney stone apparently it gives you the gift of the gab ,he has enough of that already Lol... ..
