Calydorea amabylis

Calydorea amabylis (Calydorea amabilis)

Another seedling of Calydorea amabilis has bloomed. This one has the distinct markings and the petals and standards which are absent on the other seedling that has bloomed. I'm really pleased as the seed was only sown in January.

I was gobsmacked when they germinated as I don't have much luck with Iridaceae seed. I was truly surprised when it flowered so soon though!

How lovely is that?

Exactly, how lovely is that? And to think you grew it from seed. Genius.

Not genius, rather easy actually. The reason that I and others struggle with Iridaceae seed I think is that the seed has all too often been stored too dry.
