Dicentra macrocapnos - 2015

A scrambling relative of bleeding heart. Takes two or three years to settle down, then gets more vigorous as it gets older, so allow it plenty of space to roam. Here it's on a dark leaved weigela - and another shrub and still heading onwards!

HB - it just keeps growing and flowering until the weather stops it. But it is quite a thug when established.

When we removed our Cratagus prunifolia, this was at the base and I thought it got destroyed it the upheaval, but I found what I thought was a bit of root, and potted it up. No flowers yet but it is about 2 ft tall now, hooray!
Also had a climbing Aconitum, but that has definitely gone, but not forgotten.

I've never managed to get a climbing aconitum to establish.

From RHS seed years ago. Wasn't that spectacular in flower (grey/blue hoods). But, this year, I bought a pkt of seed from Chiltons, only 8 seeds in the pack, what a swizzle. Cold stratified them, then put them on the bathroom windowsill and OH knocked them off. Not to be!
