hand-cut lawn

hand-cut lawn

i was so fed up with the grass going rampant, but all I had was a pair of "cut-anything" kitchen scissors. Took two sessions over two days to get this much (or this little) done - I was also doing the bed at the side as I went along

Phew!! Do you qualify for assistance such as cutting lawns Fran?

don't think so, Scottish. but had a stroke of luck, or resendipity.

Shayn, my window cleaner, came round while i was out doing this; he said there was a gardener chap just up the road doing someon else's garden, did I want him to get them to come after? I said, yes please! and he did, and they did, and they used petrol mowever and strimmer to do both front and back.

We arranged for them to come every week in June to continue getting things straight, then fortnightly.

lol and while chatting to them mentioned my pc probs and they said they knew someone who was good, he did theirs, and did i want them to mention me to him? i said yes please! agaain.

shows how local networks work!!

thanks Scottish and Dorjac - shows the virtue of ceasng to sit and wish and start to do something about a situation oneself! I got help as soon as I started to help myself - lol must be a moral in there somewhere

There is nothing like having to watch grass grow longer and longer, unless you want a meadow. Having no mower to do it yourself, even if you could, makes it much worse. My naughty cousin would have smooged some older bloke in the turning to cut it for her. Plant her purchases, and grub up that Russian vine....shall we call it Putin as it likes to spread aggressively?

I hadn't really noticed how tall it was getting, it happened so slowly and I got used to it. Then I suddenly did notice and was shocked.

I could hear mowers going in the gardens around me, and did wish, but I'm too new here to presume upon the neighbours!

I wondered if this was a labour of love Fran. If you have a wildflower patch with grass you have to cut it down later in the year and the grass can be quite long by then. Glad you found a good gardener to help you. If you can find someone reliable to help it's a real asset.

I'm draeming of a wildflower patch, Linda, but that's for the future when I've sorted out where to place it, and how big. For now, it ws just clearing the jungle. There was some attractive tall grass with feathery fronds, which I'd rather have liked to have kept, but no doubt it'll come back - repeatedly!
