Oh, how lovely, and I planted three little pots of this one recently. It's not flowering yet of course, but I can see the buds swelling nicely! It's absolutely lovely Amy!

That is just beautiful Amy. Mine will be out in a week I think. We are always a bit later in Scotland. The weather has been awful here today.

my poor tulips haven't even shown their tips yet...the ground is still frozen. We've had a beast of a winter and the spring has been cold and everything is very delayed. Four days of warmth and we have had a real flood...washed out our driveway! four days is not much time for 3 ft. of snow to melt and the water crested within a foot of the road!
Does this tulip have a scent? In my other garden I had parrot tulips that were bright orange-red and yellow with fringed petals and they had the most glorious scent. It looks quite similar to the Angelique tulip...except for the fringes!

Oh Lori I'm so sorry you are having such a miserable time of it with the weather ,it's been one thing after another for you hasn't it . The tulip has a slight scent Lori but i'm afraid nothing much to speak of it makes up for it with it's beauty ......

Ooh what gorgeous colouring Amy, I love this one! That vivid green just makes it.
I hope your spring arrives soon Lori, I really feel for you, flooding is one of the worst conditions to suffer as lots of us here in the UK have had to endure this last winter, not me I hasten to add.....

I'm relieved to hear that you were spared this year Janey! Flooding happens so fast and it can be devastating. We've had more cold weather since...minus teens and twenties overnight...very tired of the polar vortex. Wish it would just stay in Siberia! The water crested at about 4 ft. over normal. Still more snow to melt though...nails bitten to the knuckles!
The scented flowers are the best...just love to walk along a path and enjoy the colours, add to that a scent and I'm in heaven! I'm so happy to have your UK gardens to enjoy on here. I'd be in deep depression if not for your (pl.) lovely pics.

Ooh Lori, will it have warmed up a little by May? I cant imagine what it must be like living in your weather conditions, I'm not sure I could cope further north than where I am now! Take care, I hope calmer warmer weather comes your way soon, not too quickly though, time to let the melting snow drain away first... X

Sorry to sound so grim, Janey! The sequence of weather patterns that has become common over the last nine months is like a roller coaster...highs and lows in rapid succession and the huge polar air mass that has been dipping down into the southern United States is making our spring so slow to arrive and miserably cold. The slant of the planet is what is saving us...the spring sun is warm and all the south facing hills have lost their snow..but the air remains cool. Wouldn't be surprised if we still have snow into late May. Although the streams are running high at present I'm reasonably sure that the worst is over. My pond has filled up with silt...and it appears I will have to do more digging. It's hard to keep my chin up but I can now start to remove some of the mulch I put down last fall to see how things weathered the winter cold. The gradual warming is a good thing...in past years it's become so warm so early that some plants start out well and then have setbacks when colder weather returns. Not this year..it's just been cold, period. the thaw is gradual and I'm hoping it will strengthen the plants. fingers crossed!
