We've already had snow-showers this morning with the promise of more to come - - much more! :(

Hello Bathgate and Bloomer,
I can hear you and that is why we are here. I put my garden on the Island to bed so not much to do there . When we will come back in April, everything will be alive.
Thank you for liking.
I still want to see here your orchids and bakings !

Oh no,not snow Bathgate..! It's always said it is a sign that it will arrive here after NY..:o(( and Klahanie,I made a yummy Chocolate cake this afternoon and more Flapjack :o)..sorry no photo's,already in the Freezer !

Lucky you , Klahanie , I thought that you would be off again soon .
A lovely picture .

The snow is on the way Bloomer...no way around that one. When you say "Flapjack" do you mean pancakes? For us flapjacks and pancakes are the same - and they taste much better when it's cold outside. (with warm maple syrup n fresh strawberries)

Thank you Driad for liking the photo, we are enjoying our stay here(so far).

Bathgate, we sometimes call pancakes "flapjacks" too in Canada but I think in Britain it means something else.

Hope that in the future we will see some of your bakings and recipes Bloomer.

Get your winter woollies ready then,Bathgate..not good to look forward to,is it? and our Flapjack isn't like yours..It's made on a baking tray, and consists of Oats,Demerara sugar, golden syrup,Sultanas, and I add Glace Cherries to mine.. all mixed together and cooked in the oven..very crunchy, very fattening, but very nice! :o)

12 Nov, 2013

That sounds nice - I'm hungry now.

mind over matter Bathgate.. be strong ! :o)

Klahanie,I would send you the recipes, but they are from a very old book, that belonged to my mother.and still in our old Pounds and Ounces weights..which a lot of us still refer to,especially in cooking...there was no conversion equivalent to metric then..in fact we had never heard of it in those days..:o)

Hi Bloomer I posted a recipe for Echenacea Tea right here on GOY. It's in my gallery (hint)

12 Nov, 2013

Ok,Bathgate..I can take a hint,and will take a look :o)

Bloomer, I do love the old recipes. We still (often) use imperial measurements . In cooking it is converted to cups and spoonfuls on Nortrh American continent. It is easier but it did not conviced many that they should cook. Lots of precooked and prepackaged food everywhere sadly.

Fantastic place for winter vacation. You made a good choice, Klahanie :-)

13 Nov, 2013

I didn't realise you sometimes use Imperial too,Klahanie..I was thinking cups, but I have never known what the size of cup is used..or the amount they hold in comparison..Let me know if you want any recipes, and I will PM them to you..

Thanks Katarina for liking. This is a big house , maybe little too big just for 2 of us, but it has a lovely views and
in quiet neighbourhood. Mexicans are very happy people , they have a very noisy culture, lots of celebrations, big family garherings, loud music, fireworks and so on ...especially around Christmas.
This neighbourhood is out of town on the hill and the houses are own mainly by foreigners.

Bloomer, I do not have luck baking in Mexico. I think that the elevation has something to do with that. Maybe when back in Canada I will try your Flapjack .

In Canadian stores we still have signs showing $/pounds and then in small print price per kg.
A cup is a measuring unit and they sell 1cup, 1/2cup 1/3rd cup and 1/4 cup as a set of little measuring dishes. Cannot use any cup.

That's beautiful! I like the mango trees and the Dypsis deacaryi (triangle palm) in the background.

perfect place:-)))

Thank you Junna. We are renting this place for winter. (it is too cold and rainy on Vancouver Island in winter)
The owner is also from Philippines.

Ohh Really , wow!

16 Nov, 2013

Hi Klahanie ..
That's a pretty pic :o)

16 Nov, 2013

Thank you Terra :-)

Careful about saying that the house is too big ,Klahanie , you might attract some GOY's ! Just to help tidy the garden , you understand .

17 Nov, 2013

All the GOYs are welcome Driad. This garden has a gardener so unfortunately you all will have to sit around the pool and drink some margaritas.
Although, I have to admit that I would fire the gardener if I could. He does not know what gardening means. Or maybe it's me who do not know how to garden in this climate.
Take care.
