Me too, Amy! I was not expecting them. My steel briefcase is full of plastic bags of seeds all mixed together from my previous garden. was not even sure what would come up! I think they need light to germinate and I sewed them along with the fine annual poppy seed...and voila! This Nic has been a favourite for years. When I went thro my case this spring I was discouraged that I hadn't taken more time to label, or to separate the different types of seed. I had so much else to do besides collect the garden stuff that it's a miracle, to me, that I have anything at all from the other garden.

I'm glad you have had some happy successes with your seeds Lori , I'm surprised you managed to collect as much as you did under the circumstances , you will be able to collect your own this year and start fresh with it , a steel case is a good idea I keep my packets in shoe boxes and am always surprised that the mice haven't found them.....

Just completed my first harvest of poppyseeds. some from the seeds you were so kind to send, Amy. Have hollyhocks too...they did well this year and it seems they have established themselves. I was excited to find that the yellow ones I wanted so much came up and bloomed beautifully. (thank you!)
Jane: the leaves of the O-T-L are large and furry...(it's tobacco), in my youth I helped tend a tobacco field which involved removing the flowers, a process called "tipping", to strengthen the plants before the "primers" picked the leaves...and they were hung in "kilns" to dry. There was a large area in southern Ontario that was "tobacco country"...and it was summer employment for students. It was well paid, but very hard, work.
