GUESS WHERE I WAS ON SUNDAY?

GUESS WHERE I WAS ON SUNDAY?

I'll do a blog when I have time. We had to go to the passport office as grandsons passport hadn't arrived and he was travelling to Holland with his football team on Monday! The weather was fantastic:-))

Now look here you lot, it's Liverpool of course ....witness the liver birds, now on the RSPB endangered list. These two are the last breeding pair in captivity:-)))

There was a lot going on when we arrived, it was the 70th anniversary of the battle of the Atlantic. The Pierhead was the place to be:-) Coming home, we went on a magical mystery tour by accident lol:-))

Bloomer, it was lovely seeing it all posh:-) I haven't been home since my dad died and haven't been to the Pierhead since it was all done up. Very impressive. Lots of men in uniform too ... calm down.... calm down Bloomer:-)

Sticki my dear, I was referring to those two poor liverbirds sitting atop the building. They're worse than pandas ...won't even look at each other ...their keeper has given up all hope of them ever 'getting together' , so I'm afraid this is the end of the line line for them. They'll soon be joining the dodo on the extinct list:-(
When I was a girl, our parks were full of them and their raucus foghorn call. You would have to be brave to take out your butties as they would swoop down and snatch them from your hand ....ah ....the good old days:-))

I know you were worried about the stone liverbirds becoming obsolete but i thought it would be fun to have a look at the 'other' liverbirds!........in fact they seem a bit dated now!

29 May, 2013

I saw an episode a while back, you're right, they seem very dated. There are only a few comedy series that don't seem to date so badly. I used to love the Liverbirds:-)

29 May, 2013

Had heard of the liver birds in Liverpool, but never seen them . . . so now I know Ba!

29 May, 2013

Hoping to visit Liverpool soon Ba my son has just moved 20mins away from there, so hope we get invited soon!!

Dredges memory.....

Walks on four legs
Talks peculier
Who she is I do not know......

Thats as far as I got.....used to love it!
And man about the house when house sharing was novel.....

Are you talking about me Pam? lol:-)))

Sheila, I happen to be the president of the Liverbird Preservation Society. We are searching every nook and cranny in darkest Liverpool in the hope that these two are not the last breeding pair. As I above said to Sticki, these two are as useless as pandas, hence the search for younger, more virile specimens, if, indeed, they exist. This is a very ambitious and expensive program ....all contributions gratefully received:-))

The pierhead is certainly worth a visit Gralew and the museums are free. Didn't have time to visit the art gallery so not sure if they are free. You could easily spend a day there. I felt quite proud actually as though I'd done it myself. Everyone was so helpful and willing to go that extra mile to help, a lovely friendly visit. I will, I promise start the Liverpool blog:-))
