cocount monster

cocount monster

I'd managed to pierce the coconut and get the milk out, and was trying to saw one end off so that I could hang it for the birds. Didn't have much luck, but noticed that it did look like a smile ...

It reminds me orangutanĀ“s good-natured face.

that's it! i knew it looked like something, but from the overall shape i could only think of hedgehog, though it wasn't very much like that, really.

He looks quite pleased, after he had his eye poked out! Fran. Ages since I had coconut that needed attacking to get at the goodies. Used to win them at fairs onthe coconut shy. A hammer perhaps might shatter and no good for birds.

He's not looking so happy now, Dorjac - I did indeed take a hammer to him - he's outside now, in two large pieces, wired to the fence

I had to break up a coat hanger to get the wire (and that wasn't easy - I'm so much of a wimp that I can't get wire cutters to bitehard enough, so had to keep bending the wire back and forth till it broke - thnk I'll give up thoughts of wire sculpture as a hobby!)

I needed wire because last time I put part of a cocount out on string, the squirrels had the whole lot away, shell, string and all.

I wanted to keep the pieces as large as possible - thought that, once the shell pieces are cleaned out, i could stick them back together, put a hole in it, and hang it as a bird nest box - no idea if it'll work, but worth a try.
