That s original! Very nice, Amy, I would say this is idea worth of advertisement. Did you do that or professional agency?Does the sundial show the time?

Thank you all , some very nice comments there , it's not new Carole it's been like it for years ,I occasionally change the planting when something dies , it was my idea and mostly hubbies hard work Kat , the sundial does throw a shadow which shows the time , it's not always right ,I often complain that nobody has wound it up to be the correct time :o)

Time is relative, Amy. And your sundial knows it very well. :)

Thanks Motinot .Kat it always reminds me of when we were children and were told to be home by a certain time , we didn't have watches in those days ,we use to stand a stick upright on the ground and tell the time by that ,it was often very close to the real time :o)

Really?

Like it Amy.

Love your childhood story of telling the time. My Dad always looked up to the sky to roughly get an idea of the time :)

Yes Kat ...Place a stick upright in the ground at what you know is 12.00 mid day and then watch it go round We were much wiser and used our natural senses Dawn , so much is being forgotten today ..

Yes, Amy, when you started to explain this, I remember that we guessed the time like that as kids, too. With stick inserted in 90 degrees in the ground. I also remember, that we were taught that the the shortest shadow is casted in the noon :) Ach, those childhood times. It seems to me like hundreds years.
I like sundials and I also wished to have some in my garden. But here it is made by specialists, usually they create ancient copies, so it is also financially very demanding. Maybe one day :)))

Ah Kat , mine is a cheats one , I bought the old stone plinth and then bought the sundial top separately putting the two together ourselves .. much cheaper !

Thanks Gill , I remember giving you a list of the plants in the circle ,I'm afraid some of them died off or outgrew themselves I had a rethink and this time have put some plants in that are hopefully more permanent ........
