End-of-Autumn Downunder - Croton flowers (Codiaeum variegatum)

You Croton looks great! My plant looks terrific, too. My largest plant has completely recovered from the severe bug attack from the summer of 2010.

That's great to hear. They are such an outstanding plant. I'm fortunate to have a few large ones growing happily down the driveway, and just a couple of little ones in pots out in the courtyard. I'm always amazed by the flower spikes.

Yes, they are such a great colorful shrub! I have two in the ground in the front yard and my largest one in a huge pot, which is doing terrific. I also have the variety 'Mamey' in the back yard which is growing like crazy. I've had it for three years now.

The flowers are not very showy, however, they are very interesting.

They're really under-rated here. They're such a common plant that nobody really notices just how great they really are.

They're very under-rated here, also. I think people are starting to use them in the landscape more commonly now. They do need a good protected, semi-shaded spot here. Some varieties are too tender to grow in San Diego.
