Cherry picking time!

Yes, we're a few weeks early!

They look Fab...It seems very early, but I noticed the supermarket selling them by the box rather than the punnet.

We've been stuffing our faces for the past week: possibly my favourite fruit. I shall never be able to eat too many, and we have LOTS!

They look so inviting .. once you start you can't stop. They're luuurvely :)

Actually, these are slightly underripe - they need to be a deep, deep crimson/black to be really ready, then it's juice down the chin time, and don't wear white!

Can you breed some that are that colour when ripe please :-)

The ones I REALLY love are the pale, sweet Whiteheart ones. My Granddad had a big tree in his front garden and when I was a little girl, I'd eat hundreds of them. I can still taste them in my mind. You very rarely see them these days.
I've just had a "supper" of about 50 black cherries; so much better for you than Ovaltine!

We have been eating about a kilo and more a day, but there are thousands on the trees, and we can't reach them all, so if the birds don't get them, they just rot - such a shame and such a waste!
