Yes they come every day Kat they have been coming ever since we first came here to live , they have their Drey in the tall trees near by ... you will miss seeing the owls , we use to have owls in a derelict building up the road it was nice to hear them hooting at night but since they have renovated the building they can't roost in it ,we don't hear them as much any more ... :o(

WHen they rebuild from an old building they should have to provide for owls when they know that they have been living there. \wildlife is part of our heritage too.

They should Linda but don't always do the right thing unfortunately , there's a large hole in the trunk of the old oak tree we had to take down last year , we left a good part of the upright trunk hoping an owl might use it to nest in , I would love to see one do that .....

You can make or buy owl nestboxes if you have somewhere suitable to put it.

My OH was going to make one to put up the oak tree before it had to come down , we will wait to see if any owls decide to use the hole in the trunk first Linda .....

I think those owl nestboxes must be placed very high into the crown of the tree, at least 6 metres above the ground. Two years ago I found an American link through which you could directly observe young owls in the nestbox. They put small spy cameras inside :)
It was very funny, although little bit boring. Majority of time that fluffy yellow ball had been sleeping and when opened large eyes, blinked with eyelashes into the camera, stepped forward on a wide base, then returned and slept another ten thousand hours :)
