17 Nov, 2011

Oh Pixi, I love your comments! Unfortunately this one doesn't care for frosties.

17 Nov, 2011

They really are amazing!!!!! Would love to see more!

That's really very kind of you, girls, but I'm getting a wee bit self-conscious about it now. This is, as we are sometimes reminded, a gardening website, and I guess not too many of us get these strolling through the daffodils on a regular basis. I think I'd better give it a rest and maybe in a few months, when the gardens are under snow, and there's nothing to do, I'll dig a few more out to keep us amused.

Gattina......this is a gardening website yes, but also a community where we share mutual interests. Everything from family, baking, MOSAICS, art, humour etc. Those that are not interested will not look. Those that are will be very appreciative of your incredible talent!!!!! That's all the begging I will do for today :)

Gattina ~ i didnt think they could get any better and now this one ~ just amazing ~ i think you [well the painting] should be in the national gallery.
i have to keep looking at him, such a beautiful animal and the way you have painted him you can even feel his heavy but soft paws padding away as he walks in that graceful but powerful way.
you are rightly proud of this ~ genius i would say.

17 Nov, 2011

Excellent

Nah, Lil, begging is not enough - now a bit of grovelling at some stage quite appeals to the vanity in me, but it would have to be quite heavy duty.
OMG, that sounds awful! Please don't ever take me seriously, will you? This is the one that I DO have on the wall. He's in a rather dark bit of the half-landing and badly needs dusting, but I'm quite fond of him.

17 Nov, 2011

I'm not supprised you like this one...he's gorgeous, as are they all...but he's special...:))

17 Nov, 2011

Like the way he is moving..you can see the next step. Wildcat is still my fav.

17 Nov, 2011

Isn't he handsome!!!! You have captured his
majesticness(?) perfectly. Glad you shared this with us Gattina...I'm not arty in the slightest yet I like to look at and appreciate what talented people can do whether it be drawing, painting, mosiacs, sculpture, poetry, story telling or baking (didn't like to miss Sticki out :)).
Those who don't want to see can just skip past!

17 Nov, 2011

oh, thanks scottish, you are kind.
wish i could do all those other things ~ would love to draw and tell stories.

17 Nov, 2011

You are drawing though Sticki...and painting..A few Class Photo's and cakes, your blogs tell a story with enthusiasm. Job done Sticki

I will get on with Lil Pimp (true Auto Biography )Story this weekcoming.

we have catagories for flora AND fauna on GoY so keep em coming girl. Anyone wanting to be pedantic can 'bring it on' as they say, we love the whole mix & that tiger is breathless in its capture Gatsy. Amazing stuff !!

17 Nov, 2011

thanks pimpernel and a really big thank you for the forthcoming story; another treat to look forward to.

17 Nov, 2011

Another masterpiece,Gattina..he is so majestic ..just love the way you have captured his feet, and his stance..like other comments made,as regards it not being gardening..I also suggest,no one is forced to look or comment ,if they so wish..I am very happy seeing all your lovely paintings..:o)

17 Nov, 2011

Lovely paintings, is it oils you use?

18 Nov, 2011

No, Linda, watercolour on scraperboard, then use a scalpel blade to get the texture. The detail never shows up in photos or prints.
I must try using oils again - haven't done that for about 40 years. They've all gone solid!

18 Nov, 2011

I used to paint in oils but haven't a spare space now to leave the easel etc. I now paint in watercolours. I did have a spate of buying black coated board and scraping it away to make black and white pictures many years ago. It certainly has a wonderous effect the way you use your medium.

18 Nov, 2011

I thought I'd invented the technique, but it seems quite a few other people are doing this now. I started off when I was about 13, and discovered black and white s/board, and actually managed to sell my second attempt (for all of 10/-) at a little local fundraising effort run by the WI. It was probably as big a thrill as any of the sales I've made since!

18 Nov, 2011

Lost for words Gattina, such talent.

18 Nov, 2011

Oh Lulu, Don't say that. I've seen your mosaics and I am very envious of your talent. It is nice to get approval from other creative souls, though. Thank you!

18 Nov, 2011

Us artists are bonkers...why are we unsure of our work?!!
Thanks for your compliment too!

18 Nov, 2011

Sorry to be late with my comments,Gattina.have so much enjoyed all your pictures.Words escape me! Your talent is immense,KEEP doing it!!!!

21 Nov, 2011

Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the garden .... there's a tiger strolling through my daffodils!! (lol) How gorgeous is that! Why EVER did you stop? Surely there's a lucrative outlet for such talent? I've kept old birthday cards with pictures like this for YEARS and, on the odd occasion (very odd ...) tried to copy them - with disastrous effects! It's a wonderful picture!

23 Nov, 2011

You have daffodils at THIS time of year, Nariz? Spain must be a better place to live than I ever thought!
There used to be a market for such things, but it was never very lucrative, and I gave up because of the greed and nastiness and general horribility (good word, that)of my agent (who lied and cheated me out of thousands of pounds) and assorted publishers. I couldn't stand the pressure, and the fact that I was TOLD what to paint - usually cutesy kittens and bear cubs. Added to that, the economic climate meant that it was cheaper for publishers to use out-of-copyright pictures. Enough was enough. I was never that good anyway, in my own estimation, and got less and less happy with what I was producing. So that was it. If I ever had the time and inclination to start again, it would just be for my own pleasure, I think. Thank you so much for all the nice things you've all said, though. It's very sweet of you.

23 Nov, 2011

I'm sure none of us are trying just to be 'sweet' but are truthfully saying what a fantastic talent you have. Sorry to hear about the unscrupulous agent - that must have been a 'horibility' (sorry!) for you! If only greed could be outlawed in ALL aspects of life ............!

23 Nov, 2011

Ah, wouldn't that be wonderful?

23 Nov, 2011

Haha re frosties! :)))))))

Hi Gattina, I have just found this painting well i am gob smacked. I love painting tigars and elephants , but nothing like these. you are so talanted. Whot medium do you use ? I paint in oil mainly but i have tryed painting some miniature's for dolls house's but can only do them in acylic , But nothing in your league Wonderfull :)

14 Dec, 2011

It's watercolour on white scraperboard, NP. Takes b****y years, because you have to paint every hair with very fine brushes to get the texture! Longing to get back to oils with a nice big palette knife so I can load it on the canvas in big blobs!

14 Dec, 2011

lol thats why i do mad sculptures it lets the messy side of my nature out lol xxx .

16 Dec, 2011

Wow.......

24 Dec, 2011

Oh, I love tigers. you can keep lions, the tiger is the king as far as I'm concerned. (especially as it's Mrs Lion who does all the work!)

I do admire art, especially as I have no special talent fo rit - I can see the picture in my mind, but there's a short-circuit somehwere down my arm; it never arrives at my hand, and so on paper, in the same shape that it leaves my head!

Share, please, Gattina! so long as most of our chat is gardening-related, sure no one'd mind a detour now and then. It'd be hard to censor ourselves, "just in case"

2 Feb, 2012

yes keep the paintings posted - amazing!!!

8 Feb, 2012

siberian tigers are the biggest of the cat family with a maleaveradging out at about 50 stone of muscle so if you do come across one in your daffodils make sure you take a friend who runs slower than you as they can out run,out climb and obviously easily overpower you . the worst cat to bump into in the daffs is a jaguar as they will see you as a food sourcewear most other big cats will slink off if they hear you unless there old or injured . they tend to attack you from behind . thats why the indians that make a living in the sunderbarns wear bengally tigers the smallest of the tiger species lives wear masks on the back of there heads . im safe already as i got eyes in the back of my head lol . also when big cats are just about to actualy attack they will turn there front feet over so the fir makes less noise than there pads .ill stop boring you now lol xx .

8 Feb, 2012

You are a veritable mine of interesting information, Nosey, not boring at all.

8 Feb, 2012

bless ya GATTINA ILL SEND YA MONEY TOMORROW LOL XXXX .
