O how lovely Milky. You are a clever girl. I presume you keep it indoors.

No Cinders its planted outside for the last year...Its about 5 feet high, and its has 4 blooms on it....3 are still to open.....I was beginning to think I would never see a bloom as its facing north, but in a sheltered spot......especially after last winter.

You're bad Milky! The owner of a local independant nursery has been trying to sell me a mature shrub for a while - now I'll have to go and buy it at the weekend!!
It's lovely!

Meanie, Milky:

Yes, Feijao/Pineapple Guava flowers taste very good. This tree is very widely grown throughout CA. It's very hardy and the fruits on some of the larger varieties are very delicious!

Milky, if the fruit develops it should ripen by late summer.

Milky:

Did your flowers set fruit? And did they ripen?

9 Oct, 2011

Hi Andy....No they didnt set fruit, but the blooms were bonus enough for me.....

10 Oct, 2011

That's great you enjoyed the flowers, they are very beautiful! Maybe next year fruits will set...the only drawback is the fruit takes from 5 - 7 months to ripen.

10 Oct, 2011

Ha ha Oh dear Andy...We are lucky if we get that long with good weather......Lol

11 Oct, 2011

For what I remember: the trees here bloom in very early spring or late winter and ripen in late summer or early fall.

Yes, it's a long time. However, citrus and avocados take much longer to ripen (some orange varieties can take 12 - 14 months)

12 Oct, 2011

I shall just have to wait and see Andy.......lol

12 Oct, 2011

That's all you can do. :>)
