Sisyrinchium striatum

By Andrewr

Sisyrinchium striatum (Sisyrinchium striatum)

The book will tell you to grow this in full sun on a well-drained neutral to alkaline soil; mine is placed on acid clay under a rose arch. This is one where you need to keep on top of the dead-heading as it self-seeds quite aggressively. It also needs a good tidy from time to time as dead leaves turn black but stay attached to the plant

Sometimes you have to go by experience rather than "the book". This seems to be doing well right where you have it. I found out the hard way that there are very few plants that can really take full sun in the desert.
