Water hawthorn.

Water hawthorn.

Flowers fairly insignificant but the evening fragrance of vanilla combined with honeysuckle is wonderful.

4 Jul, 2010

Hi San....our soldiers have grown quite big and like you seems there are buds..cant wait to see it flower ! Pond now 3 years old and just seen one newt the other day !

4 Jul, 2010

hi jane,i thought i had a flower but the stem wasnt above water enough and then it dissapeared so hope that wasnt it lol, great you have a newt now, i noticed you have green water weed on top, does that come naturally as i have seen small bits which i think is this you have on top of water,

4 Jul, 2010

Lol San....those small bits were what we started with...must have come in with one of the plants a couple of years ago. When it gets too thick...by the way it grows real fast....we just scoop it out ! It helps to keep our water crystal clear so we were told. Funny to see the frogs pop up with it clinging to their heads ! Lol

7 Jul, 2010

Aye OB it only takes a few flowers to get quite an intense fragrance.

Fourth Drb ? You seen how many birds and animals we get and when the young arrive well forget it ..

Hi Dawn yes its fully hardy and can be left in pond year round. Its water hyacinth thats not hardy.
