Thank you for commenting. :-) The are a lovely species. This is during their change of color from winter white to summer browns. They stay all winter, see the tufty cushion of feather protecting their feet from the snow like a hobbit foot? :-) Our state bird. I've never caught mating season before. The single males were white spots in the top of the evergreens, waiting to be found by a lady. :-)
