New growth on Bullrushes...

New growth on Bullrushes...

growing next to a near-by canal. We saw these whilst out walking. I like them, but apparently they are quite invasive if planted in a garden.

Fascinating, PG. I often seen the full-grown bullrushes in ditches and dykes around here but have never noticed these young ones. I will keep my eyes open now.

I think that might be Mare's-Tail (Equisetum Arvense) - so glad to read it was canalside and not in your garden PG. Outlived the dinosaurs this one ! :-(

I agree MW that is what it looks like to me. Unfortunately, it is in my garden.

Great shot PG. They do have a nice flower.

I'm sure I read somewhere that you can make tea from it - but I'll stick to coffee thanks ! :-)

Ahhhhh......done a bit of 'Googleing' and yes Muddy, it seems you are right and I am wrong! As bullrushes grow along here I had assumed these were young 'uns.
It seems this is a nightmare plant if you get it in your garden, but here I still think it looks nice! ....and I have learnt something else new. :o))
