yes they were lovely GT, i took seeds but nothing happened sorry to say, maybe i will find another plant this year :o))

All those that I know reseed quite readily and come back up where they were as well, in much colder condition than there. You sure you wont have them popping up again for you in a few months?

will look out for any seedlings in the ground then GT,is it the first time your mum has grown them?

They are a staple anywhere we have lived. This is her first double, this is their second year. My sister Greensis, has her's spreading all across her front garden and they freeze for months every year. In Idaho, we had them in the front bed all 10 years I lived there, always just popping up where they were before, and that was really cold winters. I expect you'll see them soon.

Lovely GT. I'm hoping to see flowers on my hollyhocks this year. I planted them last year and they are supposed to be biennials. I should have some doubles coming.

Thanks Gilli. I've always known them to be biennial, should gets loads of bloom this coming year. That first year of just green is a long long wait, isn't it? :-)

It is a long wait. I started the seed early too hoping that I would get something by the end of last summer but....no go!! Oh well...all the more to look forward to this summer. Some of them should be black too...they should be interesting.

Oh, the way hollyhocks are, that black should be wonderful!

I love hollyhocks and this one is a beauty but we always had rust on the leaves and die back on the leaves so in the end I gave up.

Sorry to here they haven't taken well for you. They don't overwinter here at all, so I have to find my cottage comforts elsewhere as well. :-)
