A Thankyou Gift

A Thankyou Gift

These lovely roses were a gift from my neighbour, she came knocking at my door in a dreadful state she was hysterical as she had a bird in the lounge, so off to rescue them both, when I got in I expected to see a pigeon orcrow she was so distressed the culprit was a Blue Tit! anyway after eventually finding keys to open the windows I managed to shoo him out through the window poor thing was almost as frightened as my neighbour who eventually calmed down and bought me the lovely flowers. What a Heroine eh?!

HOW lucky you are...and what a heroine

This did make me smile! My twin daughters don't like birds 'flapping about' indoors so they would certainly call you a heroine. Glad the little Blue Tit survived his ordeal too.

What a lovely gift Carole , I wouldn't mind living where you do with such nice walks and lovely neighbours , that must be a rare thing these days ...
How did the Blue tit get in , did it come down the chimney ? we had a pigeon stuck in the chimney for three days once before we realised where the noise was coming from .. we had to unblock the chimney to let it out into the room , the poor thing was thick with soot , I had to shoo it out of the window , it coughed and spluttered it's way out , landed on the lawn and flew of after a while , I hope it survived it ..:o)

What beautiful roses....What a brave soul you are to deal with that huge fierce and dangerous blue tit. LOL. It was very nice of your neighbour to say thank you with these. You must have some very nice neighbours.

Ours has just been complaining because we had the nerve to cut a tree down in our front yard that was interfering with the power lines and power pole. Now his house is going to be hot in the summer says he!!! I'm thinking "well plant your own bloomin' tree then"!! LOL

Thanks Ladies!
Yes Gilli I do feel proud of myself braved the ordeal of being pecked to death! lol Sorry about your neighbours Trees do cause alot of problems between neighboughs hope all has been resolved now.

Anmy, Beryl was very uncertain how it got in, there is no chimmney in the room, the only thing she could think of is that she Lucy her dog out into the garden at 10pm the previous evening and the door was open , but would have thought the little bird was tucked up then, remains a mystery! I have had them come down the chimmney in my previous house they can make a dreadful mess. Our friends who had been away for a weekend opened the door to be faced by a large Owl sat on the lamp shade , gosh the mess and damage it had made was unbelievable, they had to throw a sheet over it and carry it through two rooms to put it outside!

Perhaps the little bluetit came in during the day and didn't panic until bedtime ... I can imagine the mess made by an Owl our pigeon was bad enough , it's probably the closest they will ever get to one ..
We shouldn't have anymore problems as we now have a woodburner the chimney is blocked off with a steel liner going through it .. .....

Oh Amy Wood burners give such a cosy look and feel to a room, would love one!

15 Oct, 2009

Starlings sometimes tumble down our chimney and land on the baffle-plate that separates the woodburner from the flue....we hear them rattling about on the metal and then have to open the stove ( only if it's not lit, of course...if it is, they've 'had it' though I have to say this scenario has never actually happened! ) and remove the baffle to let them out....then they flap all round the room in a panic, covered in soot! It doesn't happen often, thankfully.

Found a robin in my potting shed yesterday, but he flew out when I opened the door, he's ok this morning! Been for his breakfast.

Think you're very brave to tackle that killer blue-tit!
