I have these ones and they won a prize at our local Autumn garden club show.
I have left them in the ground over winter just protected with bracken.; and they have come up as good as ever for 4 years now.

I dont lift mine either Roseb, unless i want to take cuttings from a particular variety...Congratulations for winning at the show.....Do you know the name of it Roseb???...:>)
