this is the coolest banana i have ever seen, i assume it is edible but did not want to try out haha!!! i saw it on a nature walk thru the rainforest in Hawaii!!!! would love to grow one but have never seen it out of that area

I grew this banana when I lived in Hayward, CA.(San Francisco Bay Area) This banana (Musa veluntina) is only edible when it splits open...it only has about a bite full to eat...however, the ants usually get to them first. : > )
I might add -- it's the easiest banana to grow in CA and
hardy to U.S.D.A Zone 7.
This banana is available in many nurseries in San Diego.
It is available at Walter Anderson Nursery, San Diego, CA.
