There are about 4 young ones, TT. There seems to be two families on the pond.

I love to hear their little chirpping sounds, dont you Gee, I always hear them when I'm gardening and they let me know when the heron is around as they start to shreek and I move in and scare it away.

It's as if they are attached to the adults by a piece of elastic which gets more and more stretched - they ping back to mum regular as clockwork.
