Missed my Garden - Away on House Sitting Duties - Back now though

I have been away on house sitting duty all week at my daughters house, keeping handyman/plumber/tile fitter etc. topped up with tea. The job was supposed to have been completed in half-term holidays, but as you all know these things never ever go as planned. New toilet leaked(manufacturing fault) had to go back to supplier and new one to replace it. Bath shower screen, when installed and used produced rust and ran into the new bath what a mess!! This also had to be taken back out and replaced with new one. Poor man doing work, must have been exhausted, thank goodness he was free to come back this last week and finish off the work, everything seemed to go wrong that could go wrong. He ran out of grouting yesterday, had to do a quick chase off to get new pack in. (oh was summoned and he went to tile house to fetch it for us) Oh the stress, I hate not seeing my garden in flower, I really missed not being on here and now I see there are loads and loads of new pictures and new blogs and I just have not got time to read or view them all.

So apologies to all my friends for missing your blogs and pictures but I promise I am back now and up and running again, here are some pictures of my garden that made me so homesick even though I was only a few miles down the road. lol.

the grass path leading to the pond side

Hosta planted out into garden from pot last year, it has returned and is bigger than ever. Lovely colour.

Looking out into the garden from the back door

Lysimachia atropurpurea ‘Beaujolais’ alongside purple lupin

Query for this one, I have no idea which clematis this is, it came free with a magazine ordered many years ago, lost label (as I do)
and it has flowered for only the second time in its life. Must have been the cold winters that shocked it into flowering. Any ideas anyone please.

Hosta on pond side, it is amazing the size this has grown into. I really love it this year. Bonus the snails and slugs have not got at it, think it might be because of the little pebbles I put on top of the soil on this border

Rhapsody in Blue – I love this rose – the colour is amazing.

Hope you understand now why I was missing my garden, I just love this time of year with all the colours. It is good to be back in it and good to be back with my gardening friends once more. Happy Gardening everyone!

Hi everyone, thank you for your replies, will look at Dr. Ruppel thanks Michaella, aconites all planted up ready for next spring, not that I want to will it along - want to see some sunshine yet! thank you!

Glad you like the pond Annella, it ought to have electrics to it, but it is so far up the garden it would cost and arm and a leg to get them installed and it has been here for a long while without any so it must be alright. It seems to cope with all the weather, the sun has turned it a bit green again, but the fish cope ok with it.

Motinot enjoy your trip, I hope that the children look after the garden for you whilst your are off on your journey, hope you have a fabulous time.

What a fab garden, my little cottage garden looks like a poor relation. However, it has a long way to go and as we will shortly be having some building work done I shall be losing a little of it. After, I can begin to work onit in earnest.

Love the rose, where did you purchase it from and is it obtainable over the net?

Grannyb this garden has taken years and years, small is lovely and it will be easy to keep nice and tidy, not a poor relation it will be a showy one when you have completed it. Good luck with the building work and enjoy your garden. By the way the rose is available at many different places on the internet, g.c. etc. this particular one was a present from my eldest daughter Karensue63 (David Austin Roses) Karen has always spoiled me with my garden plants and flowers. Have you had a look at her garden photographs they are lovely.

Gramdmage it is so so good to be back in it - I really did miss it even though my daughters garden is pretty it isn't mine. lol.

Sandra pleased you like the garden colour, I love it.

Thank you everyone.

yup, Dr Ruppel! Wonderful pics Mum. I wondered where you'd got to, was beginning to get a bit concerned, but it's not the first time you've gone GOYAWOL!! I'm not surprised you're glad to be home. What about that Lysimachia.....stunning!! Glad you've been converted to blue roses!! Blue for You is the next one you could get! It's on my wish list, but I just bought a 'Hot Chocolate' check that one out!!

Karen went back to the g.c. for Hot Chocolate but they had sold them out, I was gutted. The new roses that the rabbit chomped through are beginning to pick up and sprutting again, thank goodness, I could have cried when I saw them.

Thank you Kfunsters, pleased you like it. I love it to bits. Especially after the nice shower we had this morning. It looks amazing after a drop of rain.

This blog has gone straight on to my favourites! Your garden is just gorgeous! Such a lot of work too, but it's worth it for that result! It's so lovely...

I love your garden Olive and think its amazing how you have landscaped it with all the little paths. I too have missed my garden as we have been away to Turkey for 2 weeks . I am still trying to put it back in order as there was very strong winds and the garden was looking really wild. The allotment although i took every single weed out was covered in weeds. So i ask myself is this holiday worth it ?I work my socks off before we go and again when we get back! Yes it is.

11 Jun, 2011

Oh Rose that is a shame, but a good holiday hopefully for you.

Thank you Libet - it is hard work, but as you say the end result is well worth it. thank you.
