my garden revisated

heres my garden as of may 2014 . ive had the ivy taken off the wall and poured 3 kilo of salt in the gutter and on the roof above the gutter incase the last bit is attempting to regrow . the mushrooms and the birdbath will soon be or are in amies garden now . I decided on black because its different ,makes all the garden uniform as when ive had the base renderd the fibre glass will be black too . if you look at my earlier blogs you will see how it used too look . as for the white quarter circle seat I stupidly didn’t expect moles to undermine it under a housing estate, road etc and didn’t do any futtings . this is going to be either a natural pond or a sculpture in a quarter circle shape of a big koi carp . its rubble at the moment . I hope you like it .

You have a interesting garden :-)

I always love to see your garden, you are very talented and I agree the black works very well.

You're right, the black looks great and unifies everything - a bold move that's paid off! The house is barely recognisable without all the ivy! You've certainly been working hard.I don't remember seeing the reaching hands before, are they new?

You are a very talented man Leigh. Amazing garden!

Loving the black Nosey it makes it all look very smart, gosh you have a lot to do but it will be wonderful. I do love your young lady, she looks like one of the judges at Chelsea! Lol

the hands have been there quite a while sterogram . it was a b old move but I think its paid of and its different . its not cheep getting black masonry paint or wood stain as not many people want it . I like being different and I love the contrast . wear my lean too is I have too put more black concrete fence up with glass donated bye amy sandwiched in the middle to stop the dogs getting the pond side . im using that wooden flooring for the roof and the other side and doing some sort of mosaic Mexican sugar skull 4 metres x 4 metres on the floor . then finish the pond and the sculpture let it age and it should look good . thanx bye the way . the ivy took my mate 12 hours to do .

Oh crumbs Np, you don't do things by halves do you, I am gobsmacked, its certainly a bold move and cannot wait to see what you are doing next, I think its incredible, theres a lot of feelings coming across in your work...

no point doing something unless your going to do it properly lincslass x . im reely pleased with it and I cant weight to see it finished .

What a magnificent eccentric garden. The Acer in the triangular bed looks very stately, the hands reaching up from the soil at the base of the tree would freak me out coming home from the pub. Definately a garden making an artistic point.

thank you outlander I think lol .

You have a truly unique style, Leigh. The black makes a bold and brilliant statement indeed. TBH, some of your creations terrify me but at the same time I am totally awed by your inventiveness and complete break with convention. I reckon you could give some of the Chelsea designers a run for their money with a garden designed for WWF - not the wrestling, the animals - or for Battersea Dogs?

its not something I havnt thought about but id hate to build something stunning just too pull it down . im already getting involved with charity for wildlife heritage foundation in kent as it goes . ive tried asking all the normal animal rescue like rspca, pdsa etc and they don't even bother writing back . thanx a lot bear .

25 May, 2014

How rude of them, not to mention short-sighted! They're all missing a trick there, if you ask me. As for what you say about having to pull down what you've created, I can understand that; I would feel exactly the same. It's bad enough having to take the Christmas decorations down!!

Lovely that the garden for heroes, it won a gold and best in show, is going to one of the rehabilitation centres, not a plant sold off!

25 May, 2014

I hate putting them up bear . I even called one of my sharpie humbug lol . there loss is the tigers, lions etc gain . brilliant pam I just don't think mine is very moveable lol . I am however going to have an open garden next year for the local hospice . if you cant bring mohammid to the mountain .............

Brilliant - and exciting! You will have to let us know when it will be. I'm not near but may be able to get down, depending when it is.

wicked fence! would love one in my garden. my neighbours would freak out, buahahaha

25 May, 2014

of course I will bear ill let everyone on here know . my neighbers say they like it lol jag but everyone too there own . you understand its a fence between my part of the garden and my dog run .

Wow NP....fantastic work there! I love the black boundary sculpture, it must take an incredible amount of time and talent to make all the pieces you do. Like Tuesdaybear, I was thinking, hey, if only you could get sponsorship for Chelsea and have an alternative garden, say with poisonous plants, and your black sculptures, the hands coming out reaching for help after eating the plants!
You could have all sorts, Aconite or monkshood...you could have the grim reaper statue striding through a bed of those. Black sculpted foxgloves amongst the real thing, and in the triangular garden, raining down on everything, poisonous golden Laburnum, to contrast with the black. A wall of yellow water, flowing into a yellow stream....yellow fever........crikey, when are you going to start???

30 May, 2014

Janey, you're a genius. I love your vision!

30 May, 2014

Me too Tuesday not sure about the yellow water thow as i only normally see that when i powder my nose lol . The grim reaper sounds great lol xx .

30 May, 2014

Ha ha Tuesday, Leighs the inspiration!

31 May, 2014

Don't blame me lol xx .

Don't know why I missed this earlier, Leigh. I love your vision - the garden is so interesting. The black is great - love it! The last photo I saw of the front of your house looked like Sleeping Beauty's castle - I think it is better without the ivy! It's not easy to get rid of, though, is it?

I love your comment about taking the Christmas decs down, Tuesdaybear - that gets a big nod in our household!

2 Jun, 2014

baaaa humbug lol . it took 12 hours to get that ivy down thow I quit liked it . im happy with the black it makes the plants ping .

2 Jun, 2014

It does, Leigh. I understand your feelings about the ivy. Often when I decide to get rid of something, I am quite sad because it's only there because I liked it in the first place!

3 Jun, 2014

its true and the lovley birds that used too nest in it . lucky there wasn't any when it was taken down .

3 Jun, 2014

We've got Boston Ivy on the back house wall, and it has suckers which cling, so it doesn't burrow into the brickwork. There is a robins' nest and a wrens' nest there at the moment - great to watch the parents flying back and forth feeding the fledglings. But I think ordinary ivy is not such a good thing to have against the house, so I agree you did the right thing. I'm sure you were pleased it was uninhabited when you got rid of it.
