What organic landscaping can do!

4 comments

It is truly amazing to me what organic landscaping techniques can do over time.
Here is a photo of our front yard 2 years ago when the house was fairly new and the front yard was freshly sodded:

We “checker-boarded” the StAugistine to save money and fertilized it the first year with the usual “Scotts chemicals” and it never grew very well.
I discovered a gardening talk show on the radio Dirt Doctor and everything changed after that!
After amending the soil and sticking to a strict organic program for the next 2 years, our lawn & landscaping now looks like this:

The only problem is that everything grows TOO WELL! {chuckle}
The lawn grows 3 inches per week and requires constant mowing, the flower bed plants got FAR bigger than I thought they would, and the lawn is SO thick that it is hard to push the mower through the grass! Gotta love it! {grin}

The entire property is now 100% organic and the plants never looked better. My poor neighbor is still scratching her head and wondering why her grass and plants don't do as well.. {sinister snicker} :-)

Better for it to be like that than not growing at all :o)
It looks really nice.
