Woke up to a very wet day,so no walk….
The cafe overlooks a magnificent statue of a life size horse..my daughter in law would love to put it on her Xmas list!..Have never looked at it closely before or even taken a photograph of it.According to urban legend,if both front hooves are up in the air,the rider died in battle. If the horse is posed with one front leg up, the rider was wounded in battle or died of battle wounds.

Just to the side of it is a beautiful tree with striking bark but alas no label..the shape is particularly eye catching.Perhaps someone will know.

The last photo is a Salix tree…although bare of its colourful foliage ,the stems are striking covered in rain drops.

They are beautiful photo's M'land, lets hope they are visible tomorrow, I managed three pics today in a test blog but still cannot add any to the photo's page, thinking about it all today, that has happened in the past which is why I rarely add any now...
Its been a terrible day, heavy rain that hasn't stopped, never even attempted the trip down to the g'house, the garden still looks very colourful despite the rain, my seat is positioned so I can look out on all my garden, I spent most of my day browsing the web, plant sites obviously, hubby was busy woodworking in our kitchen so I stayed out of his way except when called, lol...

Is that tree a Snake Bark Maple? A specie of an Acer? Like the colour of the Salix.

Even if it's raining there's plenty to see :)

I like the horse too, also the lovely trees. I believe what you say about horse statues & their riders is true. All four feet on the ground signifies a death by natural causes ie
not in war. Looks like that lovely Midland Bank horse. I love to watch it cantering along.

Lovely pics on your blog, Julia. I hope they remain visible too.
The horse statue is really quite lovely to see, plus the significance of its stance is very interesting too.
