The first project of the year was to alter the border edge in the drive. If you remember the blackbirds were having a ball chucking the bark onto the tarmac…we pushed the bark back and laid a wide area of slate.

Planted Lavender Hidcote at intervals along the border. They have all taken well and put on growth.

Yesterday,I decided to extend the Lavender around the corner…lucky to find fairly mature Hidcotes. The first photos shows the new planting.I moved the Trifolium Rubens to the back of the Lavenders It had grown far too large.

The large terracota pot in which was planted a Leucothoe and the smaller pot(Blue Festucca grass) were moved to the new area by the front steps(still in progress)

The scent will be wonderful when you walk along the drive next season.

It looks very tidy, and slate is too heavy for those pesky blackbirds! I have a battle with them in my gravel garden all the time!

Lovely finish, Julia. Looks really effective with the slate. I do love lavender, Hidcote is a lovely variety. As said earlier, the scent will be just wonderful and you stroll past. Yep, those blackies, they can toss bark chip several feet away! 😆
