:((( :((( :(((
I can't think of worse weather, and nothing depresses me more than the cold, especially snow :o(((
I am sorry for you and all who have it. I hope it gets milder soon for you.

I suppose you'll get people saying it's pretty, but I disagree - I always preffer rain.
I'm happy to say we have none here, and it can stay like that !

I'm with you on this one Hywel, hate snow with a passion, had a little snow flurry about 10 mins ago, lets hope thats the end of it, I think your in the better place Hywel, wish everyone well!!

After last year Hywel, I think everyone had had enough of the stuff. I am now going to clear a path to the bird table as least I glad that I moved that nearer to the house.

Keep warm, Mavis !
The birds will be grateful for their food :o)

The bird table is in the wrong place I think Terratoonie, it is under the tree and the bird's dont seem to like that. So once this lot has gone I will move it onto the patio part of the garden :o)

It's a good idea to move a bird table from time to time ...
... helps cut down on diseases to the birds....

... let's hope your birds are happy when the table is on the patio part of the garden ... :o)

Hi Mavisc, I worry about the snow as our garden is on a hill and it means we cannot get the car down to the road. I do think it looks lovely, but burst pipes are never much fun. My plants are all wrapped up so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Hywel you prefer rain to snow and autumn to summer. Do you not enjoy bright light? lol

It is just an old kitchen table Terratoonie so it is easy to move and keep clean,I just use it in the winter as it is safer for me,I slip and slide all over the place otherwise The birds have sussed the food out and have cleared the lot.

So sorry you have all this horrible weather, keep yourself warm.

oh no, it's too early for snow! I hate it. I'm with Hywel - I prefer the rain. I actually like dreary rainy winter days, possibly because if it's raining it means it's too warm for snow or ice!

i agree with Hywel too...keep warm Mavis

glad the birds have found your food now Mavis, not had any snow here yet ..not looking forward to it either, we live on a street with a slope & we are in the middle my mum is at the bottom & just around the corner a 2 min walk but i could not get over there for a few days last year as it was like a skating rink..i am prepared this year..have lge bags of salt to make a path to mums ..

Thumbs down to snow from me too! Pretty on the first day as long as you don't have to go out in it and just a pain in the whatsit thereafter! I hate cold too. :o(( Hope you don't get any more Mavis but it sounds like your birds will know where to come for their food.

Yes I like the rain as most have agreed. I like the way everything shines in it, and it's milder :o) And I like a bit of action - when it snows everything is so still and boring :o(( - and COLD :((((

I love the peace which reigns with fresh snow on the ground, and the bright light, one of nature's beautiful presents, I think. BUT I live in London, so within 24 hours its rutted black slush, which then freezes solid, and that I don't like. I've got my ice grippers for my boots, so I'm ready for the worst this year.

25 Nov, 2010

where did you get the ice grippers bamboo? the postman told me about them, they sounded a very good idea.

25 Nov, 2010

I empathise about the snow, weather is atrocious a few miles further down in Chester le Street I was out at 7-30 clearing snow and ice from bird feeders and I nearly came a cropper. I am not in full winter mode yet I have ice grippers for boots but did not have them on must hunt them out.

Stickitoffee if you google yaxtrax you will find them they are great.

I went on Amazon initially, then just Googled ice grippers for boots/shoes, or something similar. No one had any last January, all sold out, but I ordered from a company online and got them in February. Several different types available.

Thank's everyone I am keeping warm as I have had the heating on more today. There has been some really heavy shower's and it is starting to freeze again.I put some more seed out for the bird's and if I can get to the shop's tommorow I will stock up on the bit's needed for the bird cake's.....Cestrian you have got it worse than us Chester-le -street and Bournmoor was bad as well.

Hi, I hate dull, dismal, dreary rainy days with a vengeance, give me nice warm Spring ones or Hot summer days anytime. Although i have to say as a Midlander turned Devonian (33 years)i do miss the snow which is rare here. This year we have had a few nice Snowy spells.
PS my next door neighbors two children are 5 and 6 and had not seen Snow (deep enough to play in) until this year.
