fruitful day

well the sun was out in force today and therefore it was a garden day today.!! Inspired by gardeners world last night I decided to make a couple of shade borders in my garden today. I moved a rodgersia that was a bit of a thug and overwhelming my camellia, and some ladyferns that were doing the same (replaced by a much more gentel hosta), found some self seeded primulas and violets and also added a bleeding heart and a couple of japanese primulas I bought down in the farmers market earlier this morning…
So here’s hoping they settle in well into my new shaded tree border..
I also managed to plant my plug vegetable plants I recieved from Dobies earlier on this week, so here’s to growing broccoli, cauliflower , cabbages, sweetcorn , leeks, lettices, radishes ect for the first time. Oh and suddenly just before dusk I remember reading somewhere that pigeons have a thing for brassica’s so dashed out with the fleece and covered all my hard work up, so hopefully they won’t end up as a tasty breakfast snack for the hordes of pigeons we seem to have around here. ..

You have a lovely shaded area there ... with a good old tyre swing!
Gorgeous pink those primulas.

We had nothing but rain today so not much doing here...& why are there so many pigeons in the world??!!

According to the forecast your shady areas will be useful soon. Wise to fleece as those trees look like the perfect place for pigeons.

thanks for the nice comments ,yes the tyre swing is entertainment for my boys.. As for pigeons I wish they would go away too, they just are so many of them and they make such a racket when they fly.. Hope they don't get to my veggies I've be very upset if they do..
Fluff sorry you had poor weather its so nice when you can get out and potter even if its not sunny..
My shade area needs developing as may well be my next project or three....

Heron , yes we get lots of pigeons roosting in the sycamores, any way of getting them to move on to someone elses tree's?
