Plant swap....

I was thinking it would be really nice to organise a plant swap where we propagate cuttings of plants from our garden for other fellow GOYers.. and then swap for something some one else has…
Perhaps taking requests .. What does everyone think?
ATM I have a few Erigeron plants grown from seed but given a couple of months to do them i would be really happy to do cuttings of penstemons , geraniums basically anything thats in my garden that you may fancy… this way we get to increase our range of plants..for instance alchemilla grows like a weed in my garden but I know people go out and buy this plant…
What do you think?..

I think this was tried once and didn't have much response. But people do offer things and often arrange privately for something else in exchange - eg I recently sent dahlias to Nariz and received sweet william seed. So do offer your erigerons when they are ready - I would like one and could offer a few of the sweet williams!

It's a good idea. I've swapped plants with many members. The thing is I can't remember what I've had from who lol ... I'll have to keep a list like Shirley Tulip does :o)

Hywel it would be an idea to keep a list ! I have two plants in my garden thanks to GOWers ,the lovely purple lupin and the lovely cowslips I had in spring.... They do give me pleasure just because they are from other enthusiasts...

Lovely idea, I need instructions on how you would package a growing plant for posting on to a new home but would love to get involved x

@ Magnadoodle, I use the insides of toiletrolls/papertowel roles, I take as much compost off as possible, wrap the roots with damp paper towels and a bit of bubblewrap then into a padded envelope. First class post to arrive the next morning, Price usually around £2.80 for between 1 and 3 plants, there's a standard price for certain weights now..I hope this helps..
