V E DAY ANNIVERSARY

It is good to see that my side of the pond is having good coverage of the VE celebrations on your side.

My uncle Herb was a B24 bombardier who was stationed at the WW2 airfield at Attlebridge. In both attached photos he is the one with the big smile standing first on the left in the top photo and standing second from the right in the bottom photo. On one of his missions the lead bomber was shot down and he took over to lead the remainder of the group in what was to be a perfect bombing run which earned him the distinguished flying cross. His " office" was located at the window located at the bottom of the nose of the bomber. The photos are labeled with the names of the bombers captain.
