tree stumps

Hi guys, sorry not been on site but the computer has been playing up. Took a long time to find the cause but would appear to have been that our network had been invaded to such an extent we couldn’t get on ourselves.

Anyway back to the matter in hand. Finally got to post a photo of my pond bench. The stumps were two cypresus which were planted right in the centre of our garden by the previous owner. We put a pond in front of them but found it difficult to work round them, so down they came. After pondering on how to get them out, my hubby found a scaffolding plank some builders left behind and had the brilliant idea of the bench. Now it is a lovely spot to sit and watch the fish. We have discovered that if we sit still long enough we have the pleasure of watching the wildlife that has inhabited the pond.

The trouble is that whilst sitting there contemplating we keep having ideas on how to improve the pond and that is why we have never completed the edges. If you look at the top right hand of the picture there is a dwarf rhodeodendron, which has been a victim of one of these moments of inspiration. I was scrambling around it trying to make an improvement when I slipped rapidly towards the pond. As my feet went from underneath me I came to land in the centre of the plant. The poor thing was totally flattened. I only had half an hour before I was due to leave for work, so I frantically taped the split branches with insulation tape, it was all I could find in a hurry. A month on I am pleased to say, the plant has shown little signs of accident. Wow that was lucky.

LOL...oh my..this would be me slipping into the pond and crunching the shrubbery....I know how to do these things only too well...glad to know you are a kindred spirit! Good job on the landscaping I love it and it gives me enlightenment on something I can do as well...although I do not have a tree stump to work with...
