Rutland Water.

Had to nip out today so took a little detour just to show you why I`m pleased its still raining here.
This is 5miles away from us so we often go there, in all the years we have never seen it as low as this, except of course when it was under construction..
Sorry about the quality, had to take most through the windscreen..

Normally you cannot see the clay bank of the dam as the water is usually lapping over the rocks

As you can see the depth of clay showing is about the same as the huge rocks above..

I could walk around the front of the tree today, usually its a climb up the bank and around the back to the other side unless wearing waders..

In the next pic you can see what looks like a sandbank, something else that hasn`t been seen for years…

It is a miserable day for a very short walk but gosh we do need this rain…
Don`t ask why its a pets blog I did click nature, lol..

Used to ride my bike through the middle Paul, of course it wasn`t a big puddle in those days, can remember the locals getting petitions up to try and stop it ever being allowed...
Its beautiful Bloomer, plenty to do and theres also Geoff Hamiltons Gardens as well at Barnsdale..

Lovely place, do not think the amount of rain we had will do much to add to the resevoir stocks though, need some more me thinks. Amazing how they look when they have started to run down on water, lovely blog. Makes you realise how much we all need to conserve our water supply. Thanks Lincslass.

Lovely place it looks. Visiting nearby Barnsdale was always in my plans although a little too far for me. The late G. Hamilton was one of my favorite gardening presenters and I owe him a visit.

I agree, it's a lovely place Lincs - thanks for the pics - never seen it like this though. I've only been twice, both times to visit Barnsdale, which is run by Geoff Hamilton's son (who looks just like him!).

Wow , aren't you so lucky living there. We have been to Geoff Hamiltons Barnsdale a few times and stopped at Rutland water for a snack. I can't believe the water level has dropped this low.
