What Nannies are Good For..

This morning I received a call from my daughter, my grandson wanted to come round, he had a great idea and needed nannies help, of course I said yes..
His mum brought him armed with a camera and a plastic bag in which he had two grapes and a pumpkin and then I learnt what it was I was helping with.
He likes to make films with the video camera, makes his own stories up, at 11yrs old as you can imagine some of them are funny, others very dramatic, apparently this story was to involve a pumpkin, my role in the production was to carve the pumpkin whilst he did the filming and added the words.
I`ve never done a pumpkin in my life but was quite pleased with my efforts..

I know one eye is bigger than the other but not allowed to alter it as its part of the story, not bad is it.
The seeds I was instructed to keep as they are the pumpkins children and are to be grown next year.Lol

I did get a little prezzie as well..

Dwarf Sweet Williams, I`ve planted them at the back of the pond..

That's a brilliant first-time pumpkin - better that I could do!! ... and to get a pressie at the end ...

You did a lot better with the pumpkin than I would have done.

Your Grandson sounds like a budding film director.

Glad you had fun and that you got a nice present as payment for your help in his production.

Great blog. Made me chuckle. Isn't it wonderful to have grandchildren who enjoy spending time with their nanas. Sadly, all my grandchildren live in another country which involves spending a lot of money to even get to see them & their parents. I keep telling my youngest son of 29 that it is high time he settled down with his girlfriend & they gave me a grandchild that I can see regularly .... but even they live a 3 hour drive away. Awesome job on the pumpkin! And how thoughtful to reward your efforts.

Well done Nanny! It's a great first ever pumpkin carving. I wish I lived closer to all my grandchildren, but I have to be content with just seeing them a couple of times during the year. Sounds like your little one might become a famous film producer one day!

aww Nan..... how lovely for you,
my Coz has grandchildren just a bit younger than yours and in the GC of all places I found balls containing a hairy eyeball that flashes when it bounces-- Gross...:o))

I saw those too Pamg, made me giggle, thought I could tease our pup with one!
Great pumpkin and pressies!!!

Cheers for the nanas! My grandson demanded a Skype call last night so he could show me his pumpkin lantern.
In Scotland, not so long ago, we had turnip (neepie) lanterns, not pumpkins, and they were really hard work to scoop out. Bent many a spoon in the process.

You did a really good job.

Thanks all, I have to admit I did enjoy doing it, I wasn`t allowed to speak whilst doing the carving in case I ruined the filming, lol. I have always played a part in many of his projects, if mummy can`t he always says "never mind nannie will".
To be honest its nice to be wanted, they grow up so fast, plus the grandchildren are so good with all the modern tecchie stuff and often show me how to work things...

What a great idea, the seeds being the pumpkins children!
Great job with the pumpkin too. I had two 9 years cutting them themselves, couldn't watch, too many sharp knives.
They did a good job though so I needn't have worried!
