And suddenly...

No more colours, everything is white.

We had quite a snow storm couple days ago. Power was down on most of the Island and snow is still on the ground today.

It is sunny today, power was restored over night, not freezing but not warm enough to melt the snow.

I feel sorry for these little guys but somehow they manage to cope with it.

They are amazing little creatures

Roses still want to bloom

I got all my tender plants inside now and lots of pots got moved to the greenhouse which my OH tries to keep above freezing during winter months. Some (not many) are still blooming there.

I hope it will get warm enough to get rid of the snow which makes the air feel cooler.
We just put up few Christmas lights although, I am not planning to do any excessive decoration this year.
Are you going to decorate a Christmas tree?

It does look magical, Klahanie...hope it's not too cold for you.
My mind is changing from day to day re: the Christmas tree..probably will give in.Plenty of small white lights on the outside shrubs.

It all looked pretty & those little humming birds are amazing,I never thought they would have to cope with snow. I always thought that they only lived in warm places.
Lovely photos as always & I’m glad you have got all your tender plants in now.

I hope your snow clears soon, it's horrible isn't it. The birds must be tough to withstand the cold.

I'm not putting a Christmas tree but I may put up a few decorations if I can find them amongst all the stuff in the attic :)

Julia, I am is the same dilemma every year and always do more than originally anticipated.
----------
Feverfew, it is only recently that Annas hummingbirds stay over winter and I am sure that it is because people like us are feeding them. We also have Rufus hummingbirds in summer which fly down south every September. Thank you for your compliment.

Thank you Paul. Glad you like our view from the kitchen sink. :-)

Hywel, I do not like snow either. Lately we have some every year. Usually it's heavy and does lots of damage to our trees. Are you going to do your decorating outside too?

No Klahanie, I never decorate outside; it wasn't something people did when I was growing up, and I don't suppose I've ever got used to the idea.

Lovely pictures, Klahanie, you live in a magical setting. We've noticed a large increase in the number of our own avian visitors last week as the weather has got colder. The seem to remember from year to year who has been feeding them. Beautiful visitors!

Very pretty Klahanie, but rather chilly! Your feathered visitors know they can count on you for meals though! I haven't done any decorating or even bought any cards this year - just haven't had the energy. But I will make sure we have the usual vase of white chrysanthemums and poinsettias on the hearth, with a candle on each side. These are lit for the festival of nine lessons and carols on the radio on Christmas Eve afternoon. My pudding is ready, my cake is overcooked but will get eaten anyway! The sprouts in the garden are open like small roses this year so we will have bought ones instead. As for the rest, who knows....

Poor little Hummingbirds. I notice on cold night bird huddle around our security lights, bit annoying really because the lights keep going on when they move!

I am not a great of snow, pretty for a day or so, but no more than that! Our temps. are set to drop next week, with a fierce Northerly wind making it feel bitterly cold. If only I could hibernate. I love to see your Hummingbirds ... :o)

Lovely photos Klahanie … glad the power came back on quickly …brrrr! I have also brought tender plants in, and put fleece over cuttings/seedlings in the greenhouse hoping it won’t dip below zero.

Sorry to see the snow Klahanie, but what a treat for us to see your fabulous hummingbirds! Little weeny dots waiting for their feeds. You must be thrilled to be able to look after them.like you do, can I have one please..haha! Pleased that your power came on and you're not still waiting. Saying that, my logs were supposed to arrive Saturday, then definitely today, but no, so annoying!

It looks so lovely especially when looking out at it when sat near a warm fire.
I especially like the photo of the lake!
Those birds are amazing and I bet you get a lot of pleasure watching them feed.

Decorating outside with lots of lights is a big tradition here Hywel. Usually well overdone and some streets are really glowing. Driving around a town to see all the lights is a tradition too. Electricity is getting very expensive and I wonder if it will continue. Although, all Christmas lights are now all LED.

Ange, same here. All their seeds are now covered with snow here.We went to town yesterday and I was surprised how much more snow they had there compared to us. We stopped at a garden center and I noticed a hummingbird feeder there with hummingbirds feeding. I was so pleased to see it.

Stera, the description of your Christmas Eve afternoon sounds wonderful. Love the thought of white chrysanthemums and poinsettias on the hearth with candles and carols on the radio in the background.
----------------------------
We have these motion activated lights too Siris, so I know what you talking about
------------------------------
Shirley_tulip, I hope the cold will not be severe.
You cannot hibernate.....too many puzzles are waiting to be assembled.
--------------------

Thank you Sheila, your seedlings and cuttings should be cozy under the fleece.
-----------------------------
Thank you for your sweet note Janey and I hope that you have your logs by now.
------------------------------
Thank you Rose for liking my photos and hummingbirds.
I can see them from my computer station and therefore watch them and their interactions all the time.

Klahanie, that is so true! I have a jigsaw puzzle 'on the go' and often don my headphones, listen to some music while OH is watching a World Cup Football match. Suits us both ... :o))

It definitely changes quickly for you! Looks so very Christmassy though, Klahanie. Your hummingbirds are a joy to see...beautiful visitors to your garden.
