Autumn walk.

Decided to take a morning stroll down to the marina/Fruit Market area in town. It was a good idea to get out in the crisp November sunshine, especially after a late night at the lovely “Star Inn “ in Sancton.
Apart from admiring the colourful leaves on the trees, we wanted to catch sight of the new bridge installation on Castle Street. Hopefully, once it’s open, at least two of the several pedestrian crossings will be removed!
Apologies, it’s not pics of the garden, but seeing the trees in their autumn glory was just to good not to add.

Thanks Linda, really enjoyed the walk this morning. :)

yes lets hope it will ease the congestion. If I need to come into town I get the train from Cottingham as it is quicker and I don't have to worry about the traffic/parking. The marina is lovely and the work they have done to spruce it up is excellent.

the autumn colours are beautiful. Such wonderful leaves and it has been such a lovely sunny day.

Yes Julia, it’s quite a nice feature. The area is really progressing as Eileen mentioned too, the transformation has been really quite something. I can understand why you get the train into town Eileen. I’m based in the city for work, it’s a nightmare just driving the 3 miles from Victoria Dock at any time of day!
Agree, it’s been a lovely day.

Great pics Kate, love the modern bridge, i Just love Autumn, and those-pics of the trees look incredible, they would look great in a frame, the one with the green railings has everything, the scattering of the leaves along the pavement and the blue sky, great colours.

Thank you Julien! That’s kind of you. I love this time of year too, it’s the autumn palette and the crispness in the air.
Thank you again, the one with the green railings is community centre on Victoria Dock. This road is quite pretty as it’s tree lined.

Stunning colours, such lovely photos, particularly the first one.

Hull has amazing tree lined major roads in/out of the city. In spring thousands of bulbs gladden the eye it used to be a very wealthy city and many areas have been redeveloped.

I loved the leaf pictures, the Collage with Boots and the lovely maple (?) Never having heard of Sancton I looked it up - looks a nice spot! Also the pub looks tempting too!

Thanks Wildrose , that’s kind!
Yes Eileen, I agree, it is definitely being redeveloped remarkably well. There is so much history, all the way back centuries. I’ve lived here 20 years now, and it’s a welcoming city with much to offer.
Thanks Sue, I was trying to be arty, OH was stood a bit away when I was taking the pics..embarrassed much?
Yay! It was really lovely last night, the food and company was great! I’d never been before, it was a first for me. Definitely a nice spot!

Gorgeous pics Kate, especially with stunning blue sky as a backdrop! Made me smile . . . thanks.

Thanks Sheila, that’s lovely of you. I’m pleased they made you smile!

OH should be proud of you, not embarrassed. They are great shots.

It's lovely to go for an autumn walk and you have such a nice place to do it in :)

What lovely photos that really show how beautiful Autumn is. The area of your walk looks very familiar to me. I think that the improvements will make life a little easier for the people of Hull.

Thanks Sue, I think it’s likely due to me taking ages to get the right pic! :))
Thanks Hywel and Marjorie, I have to say, it is a lovely walk from the house, down along the river towards the Old Town and marina.

They are spectacular photos Kate, such colours! And look at the size of the orange leaf in your hand! Yes boots go very nice with the autumn leaves haha...:))

4 Nov, 2019

The colours are wonderful, just proves we really should take time to stand and stare - never mind what OH says! The bridge is a stunning piece of architecture, I'm not usually one for modern stuff, but that is organic almost and the reflection in the water (well captured) looks alive.
Forgot to add - clean boots, all shiny, in the muddy countryside you don't see many of those!

Nice pictures Kate. I have a particular appreciation for autumnal colors. The range of browns, yellows, oranges and reds is fascinating. Although they announce winter, they bring a special color to this season. Thank you for sharing your photos.

Thanks kindly for your comments, Janey,
Honeysuckle and Aleyna. Yes, the boots! I was definitely walking through the city! Good choice of contrasting colour with the fallen leaves!
I’m not much of a modernist either I have to say, but, I like to see progress too.
Some of the leaves really were huge!

Lovely pics. Thank you for sharing with us sights in your part of the U.K. I have never been to Hull.

Thank you Feverfew! Very kind comment. Yes, Hull is underrated sadly, but, it has its history too and it’s really an up and coming city!

Fabulous pictures Kate I love the autumn colours these look spectacular , I have a thing about bridges especially really old ones but I have to say this bridge is beautiful .. can you can say a bridge is beautiful ,well I think this is ...

6 Nov, 2019

Thanks Amy, really great comment! Appreciate it! I like old bridges too, I must admit. However, this one is quite different and quite appealing. I think you can say a bridge is beautiful, especially if it’s quite architectural x

I think bridges are nice too, both the old & the new.

I like seaports with the sailing ships at anchor, sails furled
by the sailors who have gone home for a few days.

Those tree lined walks look fabulous Kate, it really is turning out to be a very colourful and long lasting autumn, I don't think I've ever been to Hull, think I must add it to our list of places to visit now hubby is back into his photography. Lovely photo's, thankyou for sharing..

Hull is about 20-25miles from the open sea so to get into the North Sea you have to navigate the Humber estuary. Not easy. Most of the yachts in the marina rarely get out, that's quite sad. There are some interesting ships/boats in there though. There is a life sized wooden replica of HMS Pickle [brought Nelson's body home from Trafalgar] that regularly goes to sea. There is also a Humber Keel built in 1923, Comrade. My hubby used to be the skipper on it for a few years and we often took groups out at weekends during the summer. link if you are interested. I think a humber sloop the Amy Howson is moored there too.

there is some beautiful architecture and old buildings in Hull too, well worth taking photos lincs

Thanks Feverfew, Goldenoldie and Lincslass. Hull is definitely well worth a visit! Lots of interesting architecture as Eileen said. Old town has quite a history, plus some of the old cobbled streets are pretty amazing.
It takes me a half hour to amble down from my home along the Humber estuary to the old town, or Fruit Market/marina area. It’s quite a nice walk for us.

Like my GOYers I have never visited Hull, although my OH has many moons ago......
I enjoyed the photos, especially the beautiful leaves......it was a good Autumn....

3 Dec, 2019

I think your OH wouldn’t recognise the city now, it’s so different. City of culture has been an enormous success/boost.
I moved here in 1999, the changes are fantastic.
Thank you for your kind comment, Dd :)
