yeah but no butt YEAH BUTT....

hi all, i just thought i would give you an update on the allotment thefts from last week, Howard who had his apple tree stolen was telling a woman at work and told her about the thefts and greenhouse going missing , she said "thats funny i was having a smoke on the labour club balcony and saw a greenhouse had appeared on the balcony/yard of a flat above the shops at the precinct and there are fruit trees and water butts,it just didnt seem right for all that stuff to appear so sudden " 2 members of our commitee went down and sat outside the flats in the car park untill they saw 2 men on the balcony(i call it that as its above the shops but more like a big back yard with a low wall around them ) easily visible from the car park opposite ,they phoned the police and were told someone would attend, the station is literally a 2 min walk from the car park ..2 hours later the committee members went to the station to be told ..something more important had come in ..in the meantime we found out where the goods were and went to have a look ..it was ridiculus.. in the space of 5 mins we saw an elderly man and woman ,man of about 35 and a lad about 25 in and out of the balcony..looking at the greenhouse which was packed to roof with shelves of plants it stuck out like a sore thumb…anyway the police said they couldnt do anything unless they were caught stealing…Howard then e;-mailed local councillor and local paper ..complaining that the police wouldnt do anything.. when we all knew full well it was our stuff…(the police did go round and looked over from a neighbours balcony and said ..it just looks like a keen gardener ) after a phone call from the newspaper the police called our chairman.. they were at the flat and could someone identify the goods …someone had been arested…they had even potted up trays upon trays of plants identified from local park had 2 wheelbarrows, hosepipes, tools …so we personally got back ..hoe secatours, shears water butt and hosepipe im just glad the green house was returned after all his hard work with it ..our chairman said there were 2 dogs in the flat which was dirty and had dog excrement all over….just thought i would let you know you may have to push it a bit but sometimes you do get stolen goods back….thanks..Joan

Wonderful news for you and the other allotment holders, Joan, have these people no shame ? Well, obviously not ! Good thing that Howard mentioned it to the lady having a smoke or it may never have been discovered. I don't like the sound of the way the dogs are being treated, RSPCA call wouldn't go amiss by the sound of it ! So pleased you recovered your stolen goods, as they say, now you'll have to get back to work on the plot asap. Lol ! !

What a coincidence that you were able to find out where all of your property had been taken due to a chance conversation between coworkers!! Funny how things work sometimes . . . thank goodness the things that were stolen were returned. I just hope that the responsible party/parties get in enough trouble that they never try it again!!

the one thing that I find annoying is that you have to put pressure on the police to take action, but well done everybody, I wonder what they were going to do with all these gardening items? - strange world we live in - but good will always win through.

Some people would steal anything that's not screwed down. eh? Good for you for standing up to whats right and glad you got your stuff back, well done to the
' A team' (allotment team !)

hi KF,i dont know maybe to sell on the things they did not want,
GM,the greenhouse was screwed down to decking the owner built and he sanded the heads off the screws but it still went..lol..

You need to bring this to the attention of the PM. Petty crime leads to bigger and bolder crimes. High time the police started to get back to basic policing

i know what you mean SG , i think we need more beat bobbies, its more of a deterrent if they walk round the streets ..i know when i was young i got told off for having my top button open on my school shirt..didnt do it again what a crime that was ...not the same world today though sadly...

It makes me soooo cross when the police do nothing as if it's not a big enough crime to deal with ARGHHHH! as Scotsgran said small things lead onto bigger things and it needs nipping in the bud!!! (scuse pun!)
