I live in Watford on the edge of town with the Grand Union Canal 100 metres away with the Chiltern Hills beyond. I am retired and spend lots of time in the garden which slopes to the north west making it a cold garden and slow to warm up in spring. It is about ¼ acre with a veg patch some 15ft x 60ft containing decent soil. The rest is stony rubbish overlying a clay pan with solid chalk ten feet down. Not ideal!
