I live in the north east of england by the North Sea. Not a very promising place for a gardener, you might think. In recent years the weather has changed quite noticeably. The summers have become windy and cloudy and the winters almost non-existent by the standards from my childhood. No plants are lost to frost anymore.
My ideal spot would be a woodland glade - dappled shade, native perennials and shrubs and the sound of running water perhaps. Our garden is quite small but we are trying to fit more plants in each year. As I get older I find more and more things attractive, things I would never have considered even a few years ago.
