No more gardening for me.

Well not for a few days at least. Have strained my back and been told to rest completely and am finding it very frustrating. There are always jobs that need doing. Have ordered a few bulbs on-line that I saw at Chelsea this year and a few plants too. But I am getting bored ….so I will tell you a very silly joke I heard recently.

An open-top car was driving down the road and in the back seat, sitting bolt upright, were two penguins. A policeman stopped the car and said ,
" Do you know that you have two penguins in the back?"
“Yes officer. " replied the driver.
“Then you know what you should do with them. You should take them to the zoo.”
“Thank you” replied the driver. “That’s an excellent idea. I will do that right now.”

The next day the same car comes driving the road with the same two penguins in the back and is stopped again by the same officer.
“But I told you yesterday to take them to the zoo.”
“Yes I did ,officer” replied the driver. “And they liked that. But today they want to go somewhere different !!”

Yes, I know. The sooner my back improves, the better for everyone

Awwww so sorry to hear that David, its so frustrating isnt it when you have jobs you wanna get on with? I have pain in my shoulder and neck, im being referred for Physio but its driving me mad not being able to do things, do as your told and rest and you'll soon be on the mend :)

Its not for everyone but acupuncture works for me
. I,ve used the same physio for years, she worked at the local hospital and then on her own when she had the children (I can't believe the eldest is nearly 18!) She uses acupuncture as another tool of her trade and it works for me often combined with a lovely massage then exercises

All your good wishes seem to be working. Slowly on the mend today. Some excellent young Walter Funke achilleas have just arrived in the post ( got tempted by them on the Hampton Court BBC programme and then found them on eBay ) but I must resist putting them in today.

And must remember the slug pellets. Writing this to remind myself otherwise it is money down the drain

whoops sorry Inverglen - posted you a question today when probably you have more urgent things to worry about... sympathise however - myself after 2 strokes (AVC) there are times when I can peer at the slugs without being able to aim my foot (or my salt-cellar) correctly. ~frustrating when even one's worst impulses can't be fulfilled.

Me I'm being positive and wondering about dierama for next year (blame a post from Owdboggy, they do look gorgeous and I have a raised & sunny bed... see we gardeners keep dreaming)

Hope you continue on the mend... regards monjardin
