I have several leafy succulent plants and many of them had flowers in the summer.
I showed some Echeverias in my previous blog. Here are some other species.

First of all two Kalanchoes …
They are both native to Madagascar and belong to the Crassulaceae family :-

Firstly Kalanchoe pumila. It has grey mealy leaves, and it gets clusters of dainty mauve flowers :o)

.

Secondly Kalanchoe diagremontiana. It grows into a tall plant, and little plantlets form along the edges of things that look like leaves …

Actually they are flattened stems and the correct name for them is ‘cladodes’

The flowers come in clusters at the top of the plant …

.

Also native to Madagascar is Euphorbia milii :-

.

Here’s another Euphorbia – Euphorbia globosa. It hails from South Africa and the flowers are minute.
You can see one in the photo, although it’s a bit blurry … it looks like a little rabbit …

.

The next ones are also South African in origin …

Adromischus cooperii has pretty mottled leaves and the flowers are tiny but very pretty :)

.

Crassula perforata has small star shaped flowers borne on long stems.

(Fuchsia cuttings in the background lol)

.

Crassula rupestris marnieriana has flowers that form in clusters at the tips of the stems :-

.

Aloe aristata … I’ve had this one more years than I can remember :-

I have even more flowering succulents and I’ll put them in another blog :)

Nice collection Hywel. I love the Kalanchoes and the little "rabbit" flower. Do you have to bring them all in for the winter? They look like they need a bit of warmth which we are very much lacking today. It was minus 2 at 7.30 this morning. Winter has really arrived!

Hi Chris, they spend the winter in a glazed shelter outside the back door. It doesn't fall below freezing in there although it does get very cold, but they're fine :)

It was frosty here this morning too, our first very frosty day this winter. I hope it doesn't last. I don't 'do' cold weather lol

My word you have some beauties there! What interesting shapes they are, especially that strange little Crassula rupestrise. I had a Kalanchoe once that had little plantlets but it was a different variety from yours.

Thank you all for reading my blog :)

I also have that Kalanchoe you mention Steragram, it's called Kalanchoe tubiflora and has similar flowers ...

Nice that you find my blogs interesting Seaburngirl.

What a collection you have Hywel, you've had most many years I guess.

Thank you dawn :) Yes some of them are quite old.

It's really great to see so many succulents with their tiny flowers, Hywel! ?? We don't often get the chance to see so many different plants with close ups of their flowers, so thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Many, many years ago I had one of those Kalanchoes with the tiny plantlets along the borders of its leaves & it used to fascinate our children when they were small!

I have a small plant of Aloe aristata in our kitchen window but I didn't know its "surname" until I saw your photo!

Thank you Balcony. The little Kalanchoe plantlets often fall into other nearby pots and tend to grow very fast so I have to pull them out before they get too big.
I'm pleased to have told you the Aloe's surname :)

Amazing, odd and wonderful.

Thanks Linda :)

The Aloe came from our church. It was an offset from a much bigger plant that has flowered on several occasions.

The plant almost died a few years ago but I managed to rescue it & this year it has made 3 offsets as well as flowered. ?

Good to see someone has some colour in the garden. Ours looks so bleak at the moment.

Echo Balcony's comment: great to see close-ups.

Thanks Eirlys. There's no colour in my garden these days. The plants in this blog are in a Perspex shelter, and the flowers appeared back in the summer. They're dormant now.

Thanks for reminding me, there were a couple on here that you have now named for me...so thanks for that....I will look out for the Euphorbia milii..........I like the look of that one.....we have lost many to winter wet and the VWs!!

11 Dec, 2017

I'm pleased to have identified some plants for you.

I got Euphorbia milii in Lidl :) lol

11 Dec, 2017

Did you?.....my goodness!

17 Dec, 2017

Sometimes they have nice plants.

Hywel - you are bad! I'm getting seriously hooked on succulents and you just feed me more must haves!!

I'm not sure that is Kalanchoe daigremontiana. The cladodes should be much more squared off at the back. To me it looks like Kalanchoe x houghtonii. Did I send you some of the little plantlets a few years ago? Incidently, the plantlets seem to be much hardier than mature plants.

Kalanchoe pumila is a beauty too as is Euphorbia milii.

Congrats on getting Aloe aristata to bloom. Mine died of "frost poisoning" before it bloomed.

18 Dec, 2017

Thank you. You may be right about the K diagremontiana. You did send me some plantlets.

I can send you some cuttings of A. aristata and K. pumila if you want them, in the spring :)
The A. aristata blooms every year.

I got the E. milii in Lidl :D I've never tried cuttings of it. I'm always afraid of taking Euphorbia cuttings incase they bleed to death !

18 Dec, 2017

A swap would be good. I can send you some K. diagremontiana plantlets and other succulent cuttings.

21 Dec, 2017

That's a good idea. We can arrange it in the new year.

21 Dec, 2017

I'll leave it to you to remember. If we rely on my memory the swap will never happen!!!!!!!!!

21 Dec, 2017

I forget everything except when it means I can get more plants :)
