New Gloves & Welly's

My garden is so wet & mucky & yet there is loads I still want to do. Old & tired plants are being hoicked out as well as some that are too big & in the wrong place. Borders to be redesigned, new edges to be cut as well as all the existing ones. Perennial weeds need to be dug out, soil improvers added, plants to be tidied & all the new plants still in pots waiting for their permanent home.
Then there’s bulbs to put in & planters to be planted up.
The paths need sweeping & leaves bagged up too.
I’m sure there are other jobs as well but I’m not as fit as I once was so everything takes much longer. I broke my wrist earlier in the year & that set me back a good 6 months.
Nevertheless, I’m out there most days getting a bit more done.
So, in the spirit of cheering myself up during those damp, dark & gloomy days I have bought myself some bright pink with stars wellingtons & some good gardening gloves!
What do you think?

Well they should certainly cheer you up! I wonder if pink wellies would get me out to weed the final bed I never got round to???

Maybe you need some too then, Stera. I did need new ones as my old ones were leaky, these were just a bit of lighthearted fun but they do the job & my OH says he can spot me when I'm out in the gloom, lol.

lol :O) I cannot wear wellies they make my legs cramp up but love those so much, think I shall have to treat myself to a pair of pink trainers and pink gloves. Glad you are able to get outside still, it is so invigorating being able to get out and clear out the borders ready for springtime. I am hoping for some rain free days this weekend to continue my borders but not holding my breath after seeing the forecast for us. Enjoy yourself if you manage to get out there and remember to wash down the wellies after they are muddied up. lol :O)

I'd rather splash about in some puddles, Barbara, it's more fun, lol. Pink welly's, purple trousers, green jacket & my yellow gloves ....all I need is a red bobble hat then I'll be a real rainbow gardener or else I'll get taken for a garden gnome, lol.

oh I still splash in puddles just get soggy socks much to the disgust of my youngest, one day when we went off out and were surrounded by large puddles. She just shook her head and said "some people never grow up" lol. well I think that's what puddles were invented for lol. garden gnome is fine by me, love it, colour in the garden all year round is just what I like!!! Enjoy yourself!

GF you must look like one of those gorgeous tropical birds - great addition to the November garden!

Barbara, Long may you never grow up! Where's the fun in being sensible.

Meadow, I can def recommend bright boots, they make you smile when you put them on.

Stera, very nice of you to say that but somehow that could be stretching the truth of how I look. Nice thought tho, lol.

Just reading through your long list of to do, made me reach for the wine!! lol if the wellies and the gloves help you to fulfil half that list, I will go and and buy me a pair!!

Mine are pink and I love them, might have to treat myself though as hubby has tidied his shed and now I cannot find them, could have done with them today and that was whilst shopping....

Very nice.........you will feel like the 'head Gardner ' now.....
Oh,you are the had gardener!!! My garden is too wet to step on now for fear of damaging the soil structure.
So, apart from potting up the Dahlias when we finally get a frost, I will be leaving well alone until spring.

Dd, if I get 1/2 that list done I shall be pleased with myself.... then I'll reach for the wine or more likely it'll be the mulled wine by then. Go get a pair anyway, lol.

Oh no, Lincs, where could they be?. I refuse to go in my OH's shed as its chaotic so I have my own.

Paul, I wish I was as ahead as you are but it's been too wet here for ages. The trouble is the border I'm working on is on the shady side so doesn't really dry out even if we were to have a couple of dry days but it is a lot better than it was.

We can't get in our sheds, they are the sentry type......but full of junk!!

I hope your wrist is mending, and I'm glad to know it hasn't prevented you from going in the garden. I think some gentle exercise will do it good ;)

Kind of you to enquire, Hywel. I broke it in January, 2 days after getting our little puppy, so was pretty much out of use for 6 months, this is why I am still playing catch-up. It doesn't take long for the weeds & brambles to take over.

You'll be all right by next year, and able to tackle them :)

Too impatient to wait till then so am doing my best now, lol, at least I'm having a go.

Good for you ! :D

You take it easy.....they will still be there next year, when you will be back to normal, and fighting fit!!

Barbara, I was unable to do hardly anything - butter bread, get dressed, drive, wash hair, etc etc ..... it's surprising how much you rely on having both hands. I thought once out of plaster things would be much better but not so ...
So I feel I've done the take it easy bit now I just want to get my garden back even tho the dark nights & weather says otherwise.

Ooopps, meant Dd not Barbara.
