NO GARDENING TODAY

It was the most beautiful day here and yes I should have been in the garden, but I took a day off. First I went to Chiswick House and into the conservatory to see the stunning display of Camellias.

Then I walked up to Chiswick High Street to look in the antique shops before taking a bus to Kensington. A walk through Kensington Gardens brought me to Knightsbridge and then of course I had to go into Harrods Food Hall.
Off again down Sloane Street and along the Embankment to the Chelsea Physic Garden. It’s not open to the public until early April and very few members were there, about 6 I think. I spent about an hour walking round by myself, lots of shoots appearing so in another month it will be wonderful.
Back home by 4.30, sun still on my garden but too cold to do any real work. Oh well there’s always tomorrow.

Beautiful Camellias, It's good to have a day off some times. I'm glad you had a nice day out.

I love that food hall. A lot of stuff is very expensive, but they have great pies and I head straight for that counter. Who ate all the pies? Me.

Wow those camellias are beautiful Ginellie, it's good to see you on GoY. I used to live in Chiswick before I married and in later years we took the children to Chiswick House many times (mostly playing hide and seek in the grounds and feeding the ducks!). I never knew they had such beautiful displays as this. The High St didn't have antique shops then but I think it's a very trendy place now :o)). I'm glad you had a good day out, the weather has been beautiful and I don't blame you for taking the opportunity to get out and about after all the grey stuff we've had for months.

Hi Lily, I think the Camellia display is a new thing. They have spent £12 mil on house and grounds recently so I guess they need to show something for that spend! Perhaps we might meet at Andrew's open day this year?

Nice to hear you had a good day out. That physic garden sounds interesting. Did you not take any photos ?

I didn't Hywel because pretty much everything was just emerging. I was there a month ago for the snowdrops, they were lovely, shame I forgot my camera!

Never mind.

Ah that explains why I don't remember it then Ginellie, not that I was much interested in gardening then, or had the time to be!
Yes that would be lovely to meet up at Andrew's Open Garden, I've asked him if and when it is. Let's hope we finally manage it! :o)
