Many thanks to everyone who has kindly added me onto their favourites list.

Thinking about holidays today and the white sandy beaches on Harris (Outer Hebrides) right across the road from my holiday cottage!
Even though I look forward to going away to re-charge my batteries (it is possible even with 4 kiddies!), I do constantly worry about my plants and whether I have done enough for them whilst I am away.
My neighbour is really good and will give them a water for me if he is not away at the same time, but it is really difficult for my mum to water for me as I don’t have a hosepipe and it can take over an hour with a watering can.
The mulch helps to keep things moist but it is surprising how quickly the ground dries out. I am thinking of getting a water butt rather than have buckets collect the rainwater.

Anyway, I will leave you with another one of my ‘poems’.
This ones about the seaside: I love beaches and sand!.
Happy gardening!

SAND!

It’s soft and golden and gets in your toes.
If you sniff really hard,
It gets up your nose!

It blows in your hair,
It gets in your eyes.
It spoils your sarnies
And hides in your pies.

It looks really lovely,
Inviting and nice.
But it’s a pain in the bum
When it coats your choc-ice!

The beach is enticing
When you look from afar.
But the best place to be
Is drunk in the bar!

I want to be at the beach just reading this....despite the nuisance of sand the beach is a wonderful place for the senses.

Nice verse, Richard. Pleased to hear you are liking GOY.

Another great poem and oh so true. Never was keen on sand but like you, with 4 children I spent quite a lot of time putting up with it! :o((
Yes definitely get a water butt or as many of them as you can, it's so easy to dunk the can in the top.

Oh yes, I was transported when I was reading and could feel sand between my toes, made me smile.... I know how tiring it is lugging the watering can about, I have waterbutts near the house, around the back of my greenhouses and off my sheds, they are a godsend ,I even use my old dustbins next to them to collect the water when they overflow, lol.......
