We call it Scilla Peruviana, can be got in white as well.

This goes by many different names. GT said that it reminded him of agapanthus as well :) From a far I would agree, up close not so much. Also much smaller than agapanthus.

Yes, this is a bulb, whereas agapanthus is a rhizome, and flowers for much longer. They grow like weeds here in Cornwall.
