Variegated Solomons Seal (for my File) (Polygonatum variegatum)

Not sure if odoratum or hybridum, bought years ago and 'lost' in dry border. Refound along with variegated Lily of Valley, under Japanese Anemone. To be put in better soil in garage border.

Very likely Sue , they start off as little caterpillars they quickly munch their way through the plant foliage , you can see them hanging by the dozens from the edges of the foliage they are so well camouflaged by the time you've seen them its often to late to stop them ..nasty things ..

Damage was so bad, I moved the plain clump to the front garden. Sawfly has not found this clump yet. Was going to put the variegated into this vacated spot, apart from the pest, it's a v. good position for shade lovers.

Fingers crossed that Sawfly will not like my Uvularia which is in this shady area.
