Snowdrops are starting to slowly flower. (Galanthus nivalis (Common snowdrop))

One of my snowdrops opening up nicely. Have noticed some others have flowered this morning.

Amazing little flowers Kate. I love to look at the different patterns inside the flowers. They last a long time in flower and I've just split two of my clumps up and replanted in another place.

You wouldn't notice them if they appeared in the summer, but they really cheer me up at this time of the year when I'm desperate for the winter just to end.

Thank Linda, I'm hoping I get to the stage of dividing them...having lots of snowdrops in early spring - lovely!

Ange, you're spot on again! I think they epitomise that start to spring...giving us hope and cheer!!!!

It's pretty horrid here, Sue...wet and windy.

Thanks Klahanie, I'm pleased you like it..the others like this are ready to open!
It must be lovely to see snowdrop surprises popping up all over!!!

My last new project is a woodland garden so bought snowdrops in pots from our local nursery. I have never thought to get down and look inside! But..saying that, if I did, I wouldn't get up again! Haha!

I have noticed the double Snowdrops are attached to the stem with a very thin weak peduncle. Its no wonder they hang their flower heads.

Rose, apologies for the extremely late reply! I’m looking forward to seeing your woodland garden project! It sounds right up my street!
You did make me chuckle! ☺️

Tend to agree there, Sue!

What else?

See who else is growing Galanthus nivalis (Common snowdrop).

See who else has plants in genus Galanthus.
